Graphic Sex Makes A Return In Cinema

As a wee lad I used to await Playboy magazine’s annual Sex in Cinema feature the way other horny little toads awaited Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit issue: Playboy had equal-opportunity nudity. Them days is long gone: porn is everywhere. Even in arthouse cinema. Says The Independent, in a story talking about such flicks as “Stranger by the Lake” (pictured): ‘“Graphic sex is no longer off-limits in cinema culture … as long as it’s coupled with major festival wins, critical acclaim, and a wide marketing reach.”
