Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: The new “Captain America” is much more fun than you might expect. And “Under the Skin,” starring Miss Scarlett, is one of the best movies of 2014. Television: I’m utterly allergic to Bruckner. But if you’re not, catch the Cleveland Orchestra on Friday on PBS. On Sunday, HBO brings us the return of “Game of Thrones” and the premiere of “Silicon Valley.” Music: The line-up on the 2-disc tribute to Jackson Browne is terrific: Bonnie Raitt, Indigo Girls, Joan Osborne. Books: Reading the new Michael Lewis always feels inevitable, doesn’t it? (I once was a house guest in Lewis’s bachelor pad in D.C. Good thing I’m discreet.) Sports: That new retooled Yankee lineup is an opening-week bust. Florida looks good in the Final Four, no? Finally: The U.N. this week sounded the alarm on climate change. And nobody cared.
