Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: “Rio 2” only if you need to something for the kids. I’ll see anything with Colin Firth, so “The Railway Man” is high on my list. Television: On Friday, Jason Isbell performs country songs on “Live from Lincoln Center.” On Sunday, there’s the usual 9 pm pile-up: “The Good Wife,” “Cosmos,” “Mad Men,” and “Game of Thrones.” Music: Am catching up with Linda Ronstadt’s new “Duets” album, and listening to her classic “Trio” CD, which costars Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Books: There’s absolutely nothing on the New York Times bestseller list that I want to read so I’m catching up on James Baldwin’s classic piece of film criticism, “The Devil Finds Work.” Sports: I’m getting psyched for the Brooklyn Nets’ playoff prospects: they beat Miami all four times this season! Finally: Most gardeners in the northern U.S. are going to be three to four weeks behind planting their veggies this year.
