Harper Lee Agrees To “Mockingbird” E-Book

The author Harper Lee has agreed to release her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird” — one of only a few remaining classics currently available only in print — as an e-book on July 8, HarperCollins Publishers has announced. Ms. Lee, who turned 88 today, said in a statement that the digital release is “‘Mockingbird’ for a new generation,” and added, “I’m still old fashioned. I love dusty old books and libraries.” The e-book’s release will mark the 54th anniversary of the novel’s original publication. A digital audio version, narrated by Sissy Spacek, will be made available the same day. I generally don’t listen to audio books, but I may make an exception.
