Kudrow’s “Comeback” Making A Comeback

“The Comeback” is finally making a comeback of its own. After an almost-10-years absence, the Lisa Kudrow-starring cult hit will be returning to HBO for a six-episode season this fall. Production is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles this month. I found the original episodes unfunny and painful to watch but many of my friends became fans, admiring Kudrow’s pluck as she faced failure in Tinseltown. “The Comeback holds a special place in the hearts of its many fans, including many of us here at HBO,” HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said in a press release. “I can’t wait to find out what Valerie’s been up to since we last met.” The one-season wonder had a 13-episode run on the network back in 2005. Kudrow, who co-created the series with Michael Patrick King, plays fading “it girl” Valerie Cherish, a former sitcom star trying to make a comeback.
