Google Glass Goes To The Opera

The Times reports that New York’s On Site Opera, ‘a feisty company that was founded in 2012 to present site-specific performances,’ is experimenting with Google Glass to bring supertitles to audiences. ‘During the run of its new production of Rameau’s “Pygmalion,” a 1748 work about a sculptor who become smitten by one of his statues – the company is setting aside one performance for an experiment in which title will be projected to Google Glass.’ I’m not sure about this tech attempt. I know plenty of boyfriends and husbands, especially during sports-playoff season, who will use the device to follow the game, not the opera. But at least they’ll have supported opera, right?
