Streep To Play Callas In “Master Class”
Meryl Streep will play Maria Callas in an HBO movie of Terrence McNally’s play “Master Class.” Mike Nichols will direct. Two thoughts. 1) Somewhere, Faye Dunaway‘s bloody bathtub is overflowing. 2) Who would you rather see as Callas: Meryl or Faye? Filming on the Nichols project will begin in January. Nichols and Streep previously teamed on “Silkwood,” “Heartburn,” “Postcards from the Edge,” and “Angels in America.”
