Martha Stewart Disses “Orange/Black”

Over the weekend, the gossip sites were buzzing with Martha Stewart’s diss of Gwyneth Paltrow‘s lifestyle brand Goop: Gwyneth, said Martha, “wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart” if she were confident in her acting skills. “She just needs to be quiet.” Buried in the story, however, was Martha’s diss of “Orange is the New Black,” a criticism which I suppose we are supposed to credit because Martha once did time in the slammer. Martha’s pettiness was aimed at the casting of lead character Piper. “They could have done so much better,” Stewart said, referring to Taylor Schilling (pictured) — who scored an Emmy nod for her performance. “That girl is not good enough, the lead actress.” Martha is a big success. She is also a 73-year-old blonde. She needs to find targets other than younger, prettier blondes.
