“Cilla”: Biggest Since “Broadchurch”

In Britain, ITV’s three-part biopic on Cilla Black launched on Monday night and whether it was Sheridan Smith (pictured)’s charm or the swinging 60s vibe, the ratings speak for themselves. Not only was there a tremendous Twitter reaction, it was the broadcaster’s biggest drama launch since crime drama “Broadchurch” aired last year. The first episode of “Cilla,” which aired on ITV1 between 9 and 10pm, saw a peak audience of 6.7 million viewers and a 30% share, whilst “Broadchurch” scored an average audience of 6.8 million. “Cilla” kicked off in 1963, when singer/actress/entertainer Cilla got her big break. The miniseries concludes tonight.
