“It’s Only A Play”: My FT Review

The Financial Times has published my review of Terrence McNally‘s “It’s Only A Play,” on Broadway, with Nathan Lane and Stockard Channing leading the cast. Bottom line: ‘Less an exercise in perfect plot than in professionally constructed mirth, this updated 1986 comedy about The Theatre, cleverly staged by Jack O’Brien, features a glistening Manhattan town house set and six showbiz stars striving to delight us. Except for brief stretches of dead air, mostly in act two, they succeed.’
