She didn’t live to see it, but Hedy Lamarr, one of the most beautiful women ever to grace a Hollywood screen, would be 100 years old this month. The most striking thing about her biography: Her greatest achievement came in the early days of World War II, when Lamarr, along with the experimental composer George Antheil, devised a method to prevent the interception of radio-controlled torpedos.
