Affleck, Fincher Remaking “Strangers”

Why do they keep remaking the good movies? They should remake the bad ones until they get them right! That sentiment is not original to me, but it’s worth repeating with the news that director David Fincher, screenwriter Gillian Flynn, and actor Ben Affleck are about to foist a remake of Hitchcock’s “Strangers on a Train” upon us. They promise a more modern take, which means we’ll probably have Affleck’s character hook up with a woman, rather than the man-on-man action (Farley Granger, Robert Walker) in the 1951 original, which was based on a book by fabu writer Patricia Highsmith and scripted by Arthur Laurents. The remake will be called “Strangers.”
