Cobain’s Childhood Home Is For Sale

Kurt Cobain’s childhood home in Aberdeen, Washington, is back on the market. Back in 2013, Cobain’s mother Wendy O’Connor and sister Kim Cobain attempted to sell the property for $500,000, in hopes of selling it to someone who would turn it into a museum. They didn’t succeed, and now, the house is being listed at $400,00. The Puget Sound Business Journal points out that the average price of a home in the surrounding area is $100,000. Last year, a Cobain fan attempted to crowd source the funds to purchase the home and turn it into a museum. Ultimately, the attempt raised $2,285 out of a requested $700,000. Cobain moved into the house in 1969 at age two, living there with his parents until they separated, when he was nine. He also later lived there as a teenager with his mom. According to The Guardian, his bedroom walls are still scribbled with band names like Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin. The house is two hours from Seattle. “Montage of Heck,” the authorized Cobain documentary, will premiere on HBO on May 4.
