Older Folks Are Taking To The Stage

No, this isn’t a reunion-cast photo from the original production of “Hair.” It’s a production of the musical from Stagebridge, an Oakland-based “senior theater company.” According to the Wall Street Journal, “The 50-plus crowd is stage-struck. Across the country, growing numbers of older adults are joining theater companies and signing up for classes in acting, directing and playwriting.” Further: “While the growth is welcome, new organizations…invariably face a steep learning curve. Put another way: “King Lear” isn’t always the right play to start with.” Ya think?
