Tech Boom Makes San Franciscans Homeless

California-based photographer Wenxin Zhang moved to San Francisco in 2011 and fell in with a group of people forced to find alternative means of accommodation due to the skyrocketing cost of living in the city. She decided to document the experiences of these people and their living conditions and called the project “Goodnight Stories.” ‘Some of them suffer from bankruptcy, poverty, health problems or depression,’ she told Feature Shoot. ‘Sometimes being different from the majority can be very hard.’ Some people live in sailboats or in a second-hand van or are homeless.
