Streep Rocks Out In “Ricki”

Meryl Streep is the star of Jonathan Demme’s new film “Ricki and the Flash,” the story of a guitarist/singer who leaves behind her family in pursuit of superstardom, only to return home for an awkward homecoming. As Yahoo! Movies reports, Streep learned to play a number of songs on guitar for the movie, which was written by Diablo Cody and hits theaters August 7: Sam the Sham & the Pharoahs’ “Wooly Bully,” Tom Petty’s “American Girl,” and Bruce Springsteen’s “My Love Will Not Let You Down,” to name a few. Streep also performs “Cold One,” a track specifically written for the film by Jenny Lewis and frequent collaborator Johnathan Rice.
