Methinks Cate Doth Protest Too Much
My goddess Cate Blanchett is still backpedaling from that interview she gave to Variety last year. In it, she was reported as having had relationships with women (bisexual! lesbian!) but she subsequently clarified that while she’s had many relationships with women they have never been sexual. (As Katharine Hepburn, the woman she won an Oscar for impersonating, would have said: “Bore.” Pronounced of course, “Bo-ah.”) In Cate’s defense, she isn’t the one bringing up the Variety interview over and over: journalists want to discuss the subject because Cate has a lesbian affair in her marvelous (I’ve seen it!) upcoming movie, “Carol.”
