“Mother Courage”: Tired Or Terrific?

The off-Broadway production of Brecht‘s “Mother Courage” has finally opened after controversy. Its original leading actor, Tonya Pinkins, left the show in a beef with the director, Brian Kulick. Kecia Lewis (pictured) bravely stepped in to the part. The New York Times says the results are “terrific” but New York magazine says they are “weirdly enervated and unambitious.”
