Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: “Meet the Blacks” provides the comedy, and “Miles Ahead,” starring the marvelous Don Cheadle, provides the drama. Television: Now that there’s nothing worth watching Sundays on PBS (I’ll leave you all to “Mr. Selfridge”), I’m going back to “Vinyl” and “Girls” on HBO. Music: The success of the big, loud “Batman v. Superman” movie has spawned a big, loud soundtrack album. I’ve been drowning my sorrows this week with “The Very Best of Patty Duke: Just Patty.” Books: Michiko Kakutani’s comparison of Hope Jahren’s new botany book “Lab Girl” to Oliver Sacks and Stephen Jay Gould felt more like a blurb than a review. Still, I’ll probably check Jahren’s book out. Sports: Baseball’s opening day comes on Monday — let’s go Mets. Finally: I’ve been relearning lately a very good way to deal with stress — by singing!
