Happy 90th Birthday, Your Majesty!
On the occasion, the Palace released three new photos of the Queen. My favorite is of her on the steps of Windsor with two corgis and two corgi-mix dogs. (I’m shocked to discover HM has mutts.) My least favorite is of the Queen with her descendants: the two tallest kids are grandchildren (progeny of Prince Edward), which underscores that Prince Harry and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are the grandchildren who have been neglected in all the official portraiture. Finally, I love that the Queen chose an LGBT person, Annie Leibovitz, to take the pictures. Somewhere in the Great Posh Beyond, another queen, Cecil Beaton (one of HM’s early portrait takers), is smiling.
