Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: “Free State of Jones“? Maybe. “Independence Day“? Nah. “The Neon Demon“? Definitely. Television: On Friday, American Masters airs “Jimi Hendrix.” Stephen Dillane is a marvelous actor, so I’m hoping to catch up with “The Tunnel” on Sunday. Music: “case/lang/veirs” is a collaboration between avant-rock icon Neko Case, legendary musical nomad k.d. lang, and indie folk star Laura Veirs. Books: At the top of my bedside stack are Barbara Cook’s memoir, “Then and Now,” and Jean Stein’s “Edie: American Girl.” Sports: I’m still gnashing my teeth about the Cleveland Cavaliers’ victory. And bemoaning the prospects of the Yanks and the Mets, as well as those of the Rose-laden Knicks. Finally: On Sunday, I may relax my rule about not attending Gay Pride parades. #orlando
