Books: I finally caught up to Paul Beatty’s scorching satire, “The Sellout.” It won the Booker Prize — deservedly so…Zadie Smith’s new novel, “Swing Time,” contains flashes of brilliance, but it’s not in the class of her “White Teeth” or “Of Beauty.” Sports: I’m so heartened by the turnaround the Giants have made this season, but I fear the worst in their game against the Cowboys. Finally: It’s Christmas season, and I’m not suicidal…yet.
