Golden Globes: The Highlights

Besides Meryl Streep, of course, who tore Trump a new orange asshole. There was: Kristen Wiig and Steve Carell, who did an inspired bit about animated movies, and Sofia Vergara, who pronounced “annual” as “anal,” and “Moonlight,” which won Best Drama and got a huge ovation, but not enough of one to persuade me that it will snatch the best-picture Oscar from “La La Land,” which won all its categories (seven for seven, a new Golden Globes record). Brad Pitt was the handsomest man, as usual. Aaron Taylor-Johnson won best supporting actor, in an upset, but he won’t win the Oscar (he doesn’t even have a SAG nom). As for TV, the Globes did their usual job of recognizing new series before anyone else: “The Crown” won Best Drama and “Atlanta” won Best Comedy.
