Music Mixes For Your Holiday Weekend
This month brings a bumper crop of mixes, compiled by Pitchfork just in time for Fourth of July weekend. If dancing’s your thing, you’ll find it in spades with dress-to-sweat sessions from the Black Madonna, Dawit Eklund, Minimal Violence, and Nightwave. If you’re heading to a patch of land as far from fireworks as you can get, ambient excursions from Andrew Pekler, DJ Sports, and Scott Gilmore should do the trick—not to mention Brandon Wilner’s opening set from Upstate New York’s Shaker Mountain festival, just hours of classical and jazz piano that ushered campers into the forest setting. It’s got warm vinyl crackle to spare, but you’ll have to imagine the birdsong yourself.
