Solange Is Doing An Art Installation

Christ, do all pop artists have to become artistes? The latest: Solange has announced a new site-specific performance art piece called “Scales.” It’s set to take place October 8 in the field where American artist Donald Judd’s installation “15 Untitled Works in Concrete” is showcased at the Chianti Foundation in Marfa, Texas. View Judd’s installation below. “Donald Judd’s profound work has had tremendous impact on the way in which I see the world,” Solange said in a statement. “I have visited these works at the Chinati in Marfa various times, at landmark moments in my life and am completely and utterly honored to deliver my performance piece, Scales, alongside these phenomenal installations.” The new piece follows Solange’s “An Ode To” interdisciplinary performance at New York City’s Guggenheim museum, in which she re-interpreted songs from 2016’s A Seat at the Table.
