Kennedy Center Honors Last Night: Stinky
The Kennedy Center honors were bestowed over the weekend in D.C. and Trump didn’t attend. The honorees were LL Cool J, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan, Norman Lear, and Carmen de Lavallade — all accomplished, but let’s face it: not the most glittering collection of recipients. Richie and Estefan, who’ve played plenty for Trump in the past at Mar-a-Lago, tried to take the high road: praising the President for not attending and letting those who did focus not on politics but on the arts. Didn’t matter: the stink was in the hall anyway, in the form of Trump lackeys Betsy DeVos and Steve Mnuchin. Not even the lovely fragrances of Meryl Streep and Julie Andrews could dispel that putrefaction. The awards will be broadcast on CBS on December 26th.
