“The Inheritance”: A Millennial “Angels”?

Angels in America,” Tony Kushner’s deeply resonant play, is coming to Broadway in March with a marvelous cast. But if I were choosing where to place my hard-earned ticket dollars, I’d be more interested in another gay/AIDS epic, Matthew Lopez‘s “The Inheritance,” which will be playing March-May at the Young Vic in London. It will be directed by Stephen Daldry and designed by Bob Crowley, which you’d better believe means that there’s something there. The Young Vic describes the work thus: ‘A generation after the worst of the AIDS crisis, what is it like to be a young gay man in New York? How many words are there now for the different kinds of pain, the different kinds of love?’ A millennial tale that I suspect will be full of fascination. No complete cast yet, but I can tell you it will include at least one major American actor who happens to be gay. No, no, no, no, no: not him.
