ABC Considers “Roseanne” Spin-Off
Really? No matter what reason they give officially (preserving the jobs of people laid off, thinking the ancillary characters were “fascinating”), the fact is that if ABC weren’t so starved for hits they’d never consider doing this. The spinoff will make “A Different World” look like a masterpiece. And ABC will make Sara Gilbert’s character (a dour loser) the focus instead of who they should select: Laurie Metcalf’s character (a lovable loser). Plus Gilbert correctly called out Roseanne’s racist remarks while Metcalf waffled.
