Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: If “Incredibles 2” isn’t incredible it is, according to the reviews, awfully close. John Travolta stars as mob boss John J. Gotti in “Gotti.” TV/Streaming: Interesting that the Met is choosing to broadcast its new production of “Tosca” on PBS this Friday with Sonya Yoncheva in the title role, not the bigger star Anna Netrebko, who did the part later in the run. Music: Crossover star Post Malone has a big hit with his new album, “Beerbongs & Bentleys.” I never tire of Dawn Upshaw’s American Songbook album, “I Wish It So.” Books: It’s wonderful that Zora Neale Hurston’s “Barracoon” is a best-seller — 87 years after it was written then rejected by publishers. Sports: I’m in pretty heavy World Cup model right now. No USA or Italy teams, my usual favorites. So I’m rooting for Belgium. Finally: “I love New York in June” — ain’t it the truth?!?
