Monkees’ Nesmith Rides The Vaporwave

The sub-genre of vaporwave has found a prominent fan in Michael Nesmith of seminal pop-rock group the Monkees. Nesmith, 75, recently spoke with Rolling Stone about his admiration of the genre, naming several albums and remixes among his favorites, including Macintosh Plusbeloved full-length Floral Shoppe. “You’ve got to put in ‘vaporwave’ on YouTube and follow it down. It’s an endless cavern of inter-connected convolutions,” he told RS. “I tell everybody I meet about it. Once you open it up, it’s like cracking an egg.”
