Neil Simon Dead At 91

Clive Barnes said it best: ‘“Neil Simon is destined to remain rich, successful and underrated.” Simon, who just died at 91, was so phenomenally successful on Broadway that for years he couldn’t get arrested by critics. That changed with his 1980s autobiographical trilogy, including my favorite of his plays, “Biloxi Blues.” Yet when two of those plays were revived on Broadway a decade ago they quickly dwindled. Tastes had changed and no one knew it better than Simon.
