Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: It’s a right-wing weekend — Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell” and a the Fox News saga “Bombshell.” Myself, I’d like to see “Seberg.” TV/Streaming: The Kennedy Center honors are broadcast Sunday on CBS: I’m looking forward to seeing Linda Ronstadt and Sally Field. Music: It’s hilarious that the Times thinks there really were 54 “best” songs in 2019. I’m not sure what my favorite songs was — it wasn’t anything by Lizzo. Books: I’m finishing the year with Frederic Morton’s “A Nervous Splendor,” about Vienna in 1888-89. Sports: The Yankees overspent on Gerrit Cole — unless he wins two playoff games in each series next year. Finally: I wish I could say that a shorter Christmas season this year is making things easier for me. But it isn’t.
