“Mrs. America,” “Hollywood”: Trashy

Both “Mrs. America,” about the 1970s struggle to pass the ERA, and “Hollywood,” about Tinseltown in the postwar era, are reminders that brilliant actors can enliven historical material but not disguise poor writing that is little more than a weak fantasy of actual or pseudo events.
