2007 Emmy Awards Highlights

I couldn’t watch the entire Emmys telecast, and it wasn’t just because Ryan Seacrest was so inoffensive. After the “Family Guy” musical number early on, everything in the first hour was a snooze. The two highlights were: the profane tirade by Sally Field (shown here) against war, which Fox, the “fair and balanced” corporation that broadcast the awards, would have bleeped even if it hadn’t been profane; and James Spader, winning for “Boston Legal,” making snarky reference to the ridiculous in-the-round seating. I didn’t mind “The Sopranos” winning for best drama, but I have to admit — and I never thought I’d say this – that I am getting a little tired of Helen Mirren. This isn’t 2006, Dame H. Let someone else win!
