News: “View From Bridge” Movie

viewfromthebridgecover_thumbArthur Miller’s 1955 play “A View from the Bridge” is about to open on Broadway in a production starring Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson. Meanwhile, a movie version of the play is once again gathering steam. No director has been announced, but Andrew Bovell, who did the script for the imminent Mel Gibson movie “Edge of Darkness” and whose stunning play “When the Rain Stops Falling” is in rehearsal at Lincoln Center Theatre, told me this week that he’s going to be turning his attention once again to the screenplay. Bovell did a version several years ago that was endorsed by Miller before he died. Anthony LaPaglia, who starred in the play on Broadway a decade ago, controls the movie rights, so it would make sense that he would star in the movie.
