Oscars Afraid Of Football?
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences put the kibosh on rumors that it would move the 2012 Oscars to late January. By the time we reach late February or early March, everyone is tuckered out of awards shows. I’m heartily in favor of the move, but it won’t happen soon. The Academy gave no good reason why they won’t change things, but I can tell you that it has a lot to do with the fact that the football playoff season extends to the first Sunday in February, and they didn’t want to go up against a big playoff game. Why the Oscars has to be on a Sunday is beyond me.
