15 Soaps You’ve Loved & Lost

Since I never spent much time watching soap operas (for me, watching TV during the day is equivalent to death), I can’t mourn the loss of “All My Children” and “One Life To Live.” (Although I’ve never gotten over the loss of the indomitable Ruth Warrick, pictured left. She was a trouper.) Nor can I mourn these 15 other soaps that have died over the years. It isn’t just the fact that women work during the day now that killed the genre. And it isn’t even as if the genre is dead. Almost all the soap-opera cliches — overwrought emotion, ridiculous plot twists — are alive and well in “reality” TV.
