Glaring Omission From Best Actor List
I think it’s quite an omission on the part of blogger Jeffrey Wells to spitball his very early thoughts for 2014 Oscar nominations and exclude Idris Elba from a long list for Best Actor. Elba plays Nelson Mandela in “Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.” Mandela, arguably the world’s greatest living leader in terms of moral stature, has been very ill lately and could die before the year is out. That tragic disappearance would give a boost to Elba’s chances, if the movie is halfway decent. And Justin Chadwick, who directed the film, is very talented; his “Bleak House” for television was terrific.
