New “Funny Girl” Gets Strong Reviews

More than fifty years after it made a star of Streisand, “Funny Girl” has yet to be revived on Broadway. But a major production has just bowed in London, with Sheridan Smith (pictured), who’s a big draw there, getting raves, and the production scoring as well. Less loved: the revised book by Harvey Fierstein. Maybe instead of working on the book Harvey should have played Fanny’s mom — that’s perfect casting.
