“The Newsroom”: New Trailer
The latest sample of Aaron Sorkin’s “The Newsroom,” premiering June 24th on HBO, provides little new about the show’s characters: Jane Fonda, as a suit, is channeling some of what she observed in her years with Ted Turner; Emily Mortimer, as a producer, gets to channel some good fierce rage; and Jeff Daniels, as the anchor, gets to channel Sorkin’s own platitudes. But oh what platitudes! Example: “We were not attacked by Muslims — we were attacked by sociopaths.” Can’t wait.
