Mama Rose Packing It In
No Mama, no show: that’s the verdict of the producers of the Broadway revival of “Gypsy,” starring Patti LuPone. When her contract ends March 1, the show, which will have run a year and grabbed Tony awards for LuPone, Laura Benanti, and Boyd Gaines, will shutter. To drown their sorrows, LuPone’s fans will have to content themselves with her new CD: it’s a 1980 concert of her at the New York nightclub Les Mouches. Tres gai, tres emouvant: buy it!
